I packed these Peanut Chicken Wraps with juicy chicken, crunchy veggies, and a creamy peanut sauce that makes them disappear fast.

I’m obsessed with this Peanut Chicken Wrap Recipe because it hits every craving I usually try to solve with takeout. The chicken is juicy, the peanut butter brings that rich, salty-sweet thing, and every bite has crunch, creaminess, and a little kick that keeps me going back for one more slice.

And honestly, I love a wrap that doesn’t feel sad or flimsy. This one is loaded, messy in the best way, and totally lunch-worthy without being boring.

But the real reason I keep making it? That peanut sauce vibe.

Bold, clingy, slightly tangy, and impossible to ignore. So good.

Ingredients

  • Chicken makes it filling, so you’re not hungry again in ten minutes.
  • Flour tortillas keep everything tucked in and easy to grab.
  • Peanut butter brings creamy richness and that cozy takeout-style vibe.
  • Soy sauce adds salty depth without making things feel heavy.
  • Lime juice keeps the wrap bright, fresh, and not too rich.
  • Honey gives a little sweetness that balances the salty sauce.
  • Rice vinegar adds tang, so the peanut sauce doesn’t taste flat.
  • Sesame oil brings a nutty smell that’s honestly hard to beat.
  • Garlic and ginger make the sauce taste bold, not boring.
  • Sriracha adds heat if you like a little kick.
  • Carrots and cucumber bring crunch, color, and actual fresh energy.
  • Romaine or greens make it feel lighter and more lunch-friendly.
  • Cilantro and green onions add that fresh, herby pop.
  • Plus, crushed peanuts give the best crunchy finish.
  • Basically, oil, salt, and pepper help the chicken taste like something.

Ingredient Quantities

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, cooked and shredded or thinly sliced
  • 4 large flour tortillas or wraps (10 to 12 inch)
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons sriracha or chili sauce, optional, to taste
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced cucumber
  • 1 cup shredded romaine lettuce or mixed greens
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup crushed roasted peanuts, for crunch
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons neutral oil (vegetable or canola) for cooking the chicken
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

How to Make this

1. Season chicken with salt and black pepper and heat 1 to 2 tablespoons neutral oil in a skillet over medium heat; add chicken and cook until heated through and lightly browned if using pre-cooked chicken, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F if cooking raw, then remove and let rest; shred or thinly slice as needed.

2. In a bowl whisk together 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter, 3 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce, 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon rice vinegar, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 1 clove minced garlic, 1 teaspoon grated ginger and 1 to 2 teaspoons sriracha or chili sauce if using; add a tablespoon or two of warm water to thin the sauce to a smooth, spreadable consistency.

3. Toss the shredded or sliced chicken with about half of the peanut sauce until evenly coated, reserving some sauce for drizzling.

4. Warm 4 large flour tortillas or wraps in a dry skillet or microwave for 10 to 15 seconds so they are pliable.

5. Divide 1 cup shredded romaine or mixed greens among the tortillas, placing it in the center lengthwise.

6. Top the greens with the peanut chicken, then add 1/2 cup shredded carrots, 1/2 cup thinly sliced cucumber, 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro, and 2 thinly sliced green onions.

7. Sprinkle 1/4 cup crushed roasted peanuts over each filling and drizzle with the reserved peanut sauce to taste.

8. Fold the sides of each tortilla in, then roll tightly from one end to the other to form wraps; slice in half if desired and serve immediately.

Equipment Needed

1. Heavy skillet or sauté pan (10 to 12 inch)
2. Measuring cups and measuring spoons
3. Medium mixing bowl
4. Whisk or fork for the sauce
5. Chef knife and cutting board
6. Tongs or a spatula for cooking and tossing chicken
7. Spoon for drizzling and spreading sauce
8. Plate or board for resting and slicing the wraps

FAQ

Peanut Chicken Wrap Recipe Substitutions and Variations

  • Peanut butter: almond butter, sunflower seed butter (nut free), or tahini (sesame paste) for a more savory, slightly bitter note.
  • Low sodium soy sauce: tamari (gluten free option), coconut aminos (soy free, slightly sweeter), or regular soy sauce with reduced added salt elsewhere.
  • Flour tortillas: whole wheat or spinach wraps for more fiber, large lettuce leaves (butter or romaine hearts) for a low carb option, or gluten free tortillas (rice or cassava based).
  • Cooked chicken breasts: rotisserie chicken (shredded), cooked tofu or tempeh for a vegetarian swap, or cooked shredded turkey for a similar flavor profile.

Pro Tips

1. Warm a few tablespoons of the peanut sauce before tossing with the chicken so it coats evenly and soaks into the meat just a bit. If it seems too thick, add warm water one tablespoon at a time until it spreads easily.

2. For crisp texture, pat the carrots and cucumbers dry with a towel and layer them on top of the greens rather than directly against the tortilla. That keeps the wrap from getting soggy while preserving crunch.

3. Roll tightly and let the wrapped seam sit face down on the cutting board for a minute before slicing. That little pause helps the wrap seal and prevents the filling from falling out when you cut it.

4. Make extra sauce and store it separately for leftovers. It doubles as a great dip and reheating the chicken with a bit of sauce keeps the flavor bright and the meat moist.
