I can never make enough of these golden, bite sized pigs in a blanket because they vanish the second they hit the plate. With flaky crescent rolls and juicy lil smokies, they are the game day snack everyone reaches for first.

I’m obsessed with Air Fryer Pigs in a Blanket because they hit every snack craving at once: flaky, buttery, salty, and totally dunkable. I love how mini hot dogs get wrapped in refrigerated crescent roll dough and come out with those golden little edges I can’t stop picking at.

And honestly, they disappear faster than anything else I put on the table. Bite-sized trouble.

I make these when I want something fun, low-effort, and ridiculously easy to love. But the best part is that first dip into ketchup, when the soft roll and snappy little sausage just do their thing.

Ingredients

  • Mini hot dogs bring the salty, savory bite everyone grabs first at parties.
  • Cocktail sausages work too, and they taste a little smokier and richer.
  • Crescent roll dough gets buttery, golden, and flaky in the air fryer.
  • Basically, it’s the cozy blanket that makes these feel snacky and fun.
  • Egg wash adds shine, so they look extra good without much effort.
  • Sesame seeds give a tiny crunch and make them look bakery-level cute.
  • Poppy seeds add a nutty little bite if you’re into that topping vibe.
  • Ketchup keeps things classic, sweet, tangy, and totally kid-friendly.
  • Yellow mustard cuts through the richness with that sharp, zingy kick.
  • Plus, honey mustard brings sweet heat that makes each bite feel balanced.

Ingredient Quantities

  • 24 mini hot dogs or cocktail sausages (about 12 to 16 ounces total)
  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 large egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water for egg wash, optional for shine
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds, optional for topping
  • Ketchup for dipping, optional
  • Yellow mustard or honey mustard for dipping, optional

How to Make this

1. Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F.

2. Open the crescent roll dough and separate into triangles along the perforations.

3. If triangles are large, cut each into two or three narrower strips so each mini hot dog can be wrapped with a single strip.

4. Wrap each mini hot dog in a strip of dough, tucking the seam underneath to secure.

5. In a small bowl beat the egg with 1 tablespoon water for the egg wash, if using.

6. Lightly brush each wrapped sausage with the egg wash for shine, if using, and sprinkle with sesame seeds or poppy seeds, if desired.

7. Arrange the pigs in a blanket seam side down in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between pieces. Cook in batches if needed.

8. Air fry at 350 degrees F for 6 to 10 minutes, or until the dough is puffed and golden brown.

9. Transfer to a plate and let rest for a minute or two.

10. Serve warm with ketchup and yellow mustard or honey mustard for dipping.

FAQ

Air Fryer Pigs In A Blanket Recipe Substitutions and Variations

  • Mini hot dogs or cocktail sausages: use turkey or chicken cocktail sausages, plant based vegan hot dogs, or sliced smoked kielbasa for a smokier bite
  • Crescent roll dough: substitute ready made puff pastry, refrigerated biscuit dough, or store bought pizza dough for a heartier wrap
  • Egg wash: swap with milk or cream for light browning, melted butter for richer flavor, or a thin brush of olive oil for a dairy free option
  • Sesame or poppy seeds topping: use everything bagel seasoning, flaky sea salt, or grated Parmesan for a salty, savory finish

Pro Tips

– Cut the crescent triangles into strips a little narrower than you think you need. A snug wrap puffs up more evenly and keeps the sausage from peeking out or popping the dough while cooking.

– Place each piece seam side down in the basket and leave space between them. That seam-down trick helps them hold together and the spacing lets hot air crisp every side.

– No egg on hand or avoiding eggs? Brush with a little milk or melted butter for color and flavor, and press seeds on gently so they stick without falling through the fryer.

– Air fryer models vary, so start checking at the earlier time and add one or two minute increments if needed. Let them rest a minute before serving so the dough firms up and you do not burn your fingers.
