The 15 Best pizza recipes

1. Margherita Pizza

1. Margherita Pizza

Margherita Pizza is a traditional Italian dish. It has a crispy crust that is topped with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and basil leaves.

It’s a very simple pizza, done at its best: a drizzle of good olive oil, and it is salted, so there is some contrast between the cheese and the salt.

Ingredients

1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
1/2 cup tomato sauce
8 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced
2 tablespoons olive oil
Fresh basil leaves
Salt, to taste

Instructions

1. Heat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, put it in the oven while it heats.

2. On a floured work surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness. Then transfer it to a pizza peel that has been dusted with flour or cornmeal.

3. Spread the even over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. The mozzarella slices on top, drizzle with olive oil, and a pinch of salt.

4. Meticulously move the pizza to the heated oven or the pizza stone. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling. After you take it out of the oven, scatter fresh basil leaves on top before serving.

2. Pepperoni Pizza

2. Pepperoni Pizza

Pepperoni Pizza is a famous dish crafted from pizza dough, which serves as the foundation for tomato sauce, an abundance of mozzarella cheese, and sliced pepperoni. The typical pizza assemblage gets a boost in flavor from seasoning with oregano and fresh basil.

Ingredients

Pizza dough
Tomato sauce
Mozzarella cheese, shredded
Pepperoni slices
Olive oil
Oregano
Fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

1. Set your oven to 475°F (245°C) to heat, and put a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven to warm.

2. Spread the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness, then brush the surface with a bit of olive oil.

3. Cover the dough with a thin coating of tomato sauce, but do not cover the part where you want the crust. You want to leave a small border because that’s going to be your crust.

4. Evenly distribute mozzarella cheese over the sauce, followed by a neat arrangement of pepperoni slices on top.

5. Move the pizza to the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet and bake it for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.

6. Take it out of the oven, dust it with oregano and fresh basil (if using), cut it up, and serve it up hot.

9. White Pizza

9. White Pizza

A tasty alternative to traditional pizza, White Pizza, foregoes the standard tomato sauce, using instead a base of silky, creamy ricotta cheese, ramped up with mozzarella, Parmesan, and a hefty amount of minced garlic, all topped with a drizzle of olive oil, a scatter of dried oregano, and a few liberal sprinkles of salt and pepper.

Ingredients:

  • 1 prepared pizza dough
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Instructions

1. Set your oven to 475 degrees Fahrenheit (245 degrees Celsius) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper. You may also use a silpat or greased parchment paper, but don’t use ungreased regular parchment paper. Otherwise, the dough will stick.

2. The pizza dough should be rolled out on a floured surface, then moved to the prepared baking sheet.

3. In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, minced garlic, and oregano. Evenly distribute this mixture over the pizza dough.

4. Mozzarella cheese is the main cheese topping on the pizza, followed by sprinklings of Parmesan. Then olive oil is drizzled on top.

11. Truffle Mushroom Pizza

11. Truffle Mushroom Pizza

Pizza with Truffle Oil and Mushrooms is a real gourmet delight that you make by cooking fresh pizza dough, filling it with mozzarella cheese, and for a mix of sautéed mushrooms used in this recipe, using sauteed cremini and shiitake mushrooms.

Ingredients

Fresh pizza dough
1 cup of mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 cup of mixed mushrooms (such as cremini, shiitake, and oyster), sliced
2 tablespoons of truffle oil
1 tablespoon of olive oil
2 cloves of garlic, minced
Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare your oven by heating it to 475 millidegrees Fahrenheit (245 millidegrees Celsius). On a well-floured surface, stretch your pizza dough out to a thickness that pleases you.

2. In a medium heated skillet, add olive oil and sauté the mushrooms together with the garlic until they’re soft. Season with salt and pepper.

3. Put the rolled dough on a baking sheet or pizza stone. Use a brush to apply truffle oil to the dough, ensuring it covers the surface evenly. Then, divide the mozzarella into pieces of roughly the same size and sprinkle it evenly over the pizza.

4. Spread the sautéed mushrooms on top of the cheese, then bake for 10-12 minutes. The pizza is done when the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling. Slice it up, then dig in!

12. Prosciutto and Fig Pizza

12. Prosciutto and Fig Pizza

Pizza with prosciutto and figs is a wonderfully simple mixture of pizza dough, figs, prosciutto, and mozzarella. But there’s something else going on with this pizza that’s very important.

It’s marketed as a fancy-pants pie, and that kind of gets on my nerves. There’s no reason to call this a gourmet pizza or poop on all the other kinds of pizza slightly less well-endowed with mozzarella and prosciutto.

Ingredients:
Fresh pizza dough
Olive oil
Fresh figs, sliced
Prosciutto, thinly sliced
Fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
Fresh arugula
Balsamic glaze

Instructions

1. Prepare a baking sheet or pizza stone and get your oven ready at 475°F (245°C).

2. On a floured surface, roll the pizza dough to your desired thickness. Transfer the dough onto the prepared baking sheet or pizza stone.

3. Spread a very thin layer of olive oil on the unbaked pizza. Evenly distribute the sliced figs over the surface. Follow with slices of fresh mozzarella and prosciutto.

4. Place the pizza in the oven that has been heated to the right temperature and bake it for 10-15 minutes. Watch the pizza carefully while it bakes and remove it from the oven when the crust looks golden brown and the cheese looks bubbly and melted. Place the pizza on a cutting board, add fresh arugula on top, and drizzle balsamic glaze over that before cutting it into slices and serving.

13. Pear and Gorgonzola Pizza

13. Pear and Gorgonzola Pizza

Pizza with Pear and Gorgonzola combines the sweetness of ripe pears with creamy Gorgonzola cheese, shredded mozzarella, and the crunch of walnuts on a baked crust drizzled with honey.

Ingredients

  • 1 pizza dough, store-bought or homemade
  • 1 large ripe pear, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions

1. Prepare a baking sheet or pizza stone and preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

2. On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness.

3. Pour the olive oil over the dough in a thin stream, then use the back of a spoon to spread it evenly across the surface. Top the oil with an even layer of sliced pear. Next goes a layer of crumbled Gorgonzola, followed closely by a top layer of torn mozzarella. Now you can really get crazy! Break out the food processor and pulse the walnuts into the coarsest pieces possible.

4. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the crust turns golden and the cheese bubbles. Just before serving, drizzle with honey.

14. Moroccan Lamb Pizza

14. Moroccan Lamb Pizza

15. Smoked Salmon and Dill Pizza

15. Smoked Salmon and Dill Pizza

A smoked salmon and dill pizza is a gourmet delight. It features a pre-baked crust topped with a creamy mixture of crème fraîche and cream cheese, thinly sliced smoked salmon, and red onion, along with black pepper and fresh herbs that you might also find on lox and bagels: dill, chives, and, if you’re lucky, some kind of smoked fish.

Ingredients

  • 1 pre-baked pizza crust
  • 1/2 cup crème fraîche or sour cream
  • 4 ounces smoked salmon, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons capers, drained
  • Fresh dill, for garnish
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

1. Set your oven to 450°F (230°C) to preheat. If you’re using a pizza stone, it needs to go in the oven to heat up.

2. Evenly distribute the crème fraîche over the pre-baked pizza crust.

3. Lay the smoked salmon slices over the crème fraîche, then place the red onion slices and capers on top.

4. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes or so until the pizza crust’s edges are golden-brown and crispy.

5. Take the pizza out of the oven and add fresh dill and a light dusting of black pepper to it just before eating. The black pepper really makes this dish pop.
