Peach is a not-so-secret ingredient in some of my very favorite desserts—peach upside-down cake, peach cobbler, peach crisp, peach smoothie—and in a lot of other absolutely delicious peach recipes that I can’t wait to share with you! But if you have, like I did one rainy afternoon, a few pale, canned peaches lurking in your pantry, you’re in luck because I’m sharing some peach recipes that use up those sad, canned fruits.

The 14 Best can peaches recipes

1. Peach Cobbler

1. Peach Cobbler

Peach cobbler is a traditional sweet dish that has tender, sliced peaches on top of a rather uncomplicated batter. By uncomplicated, I mean it is easy to assemble and uses a handful of straight-from-the-pantry ingredients: all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt; milk; and melted unsalted butter.

Once the batter is drizzled into a baking dish and the peaches are poured on top, the dish goes into a 375-degree Fahrenheit oven for 45 minutes. What emerges smells amazing and looks even better: a golden-brown crust with the tender, juicy filling peeking through.

It is a dish meant to be served warm and is best with a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

1 can (15 ounces) of sliced peaches, drained
1 cup of all-purpose flour
1 cup of granulated sugar
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 cup of unsalted butter, melted
3/4 cup of milk

Instructions

1. Set your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius) and let it warm up.

2. In a bowl for mixing, combine the flour, sugar, and baking powder. Stir in the milk until smooth. This is the batter.

3. Melt the butter in a baking dish. Pour the batter over the melted butter. Do not stir.

4. Evenly distribute the drained peaches on top of the batter. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the top is a rich, golden brown and the batter has set. Let it cool a bit, and then dig in!

2. Peach Upside-Down Cake

2. Peach Upside-Down Cake

This retro dessert is a combination of several components: canned peach slices, caramel made from brown sugar and unsalted butter, and a cake batter that is the very definition of “moist,” made with all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and milk.

Ingredients

Canned peach slices (1 can, drained)
Brown sugar (1/2 cup)
Unsalted butter (1/4 cup, melted)
All-purpose flour (1 cup)
Granulated sugar (3/4 cup)
Baking powder (1 1/2 teaspoons)
Milk (1/2 cup)

Instructions

1. Set your oven to a temperature of 350°F (175°C) to warm up. To ready a 9-inch round cake pan for the batter, smear it with grease.

2. Melted butter goes into the bottom of the prepared cake pan, and the brown sugar is sprinkled evenly over it. The drained peach slices are arranged on top of the sugar.

3. In a mixing bowl, combine the three ingredients in the first step: flour, sugar, and baking powder. In a separate bowl, mix the wet ingredients. These are two: milk and peach slices. Peel the peaches and cut them into thin slices before mixing them in with the other wet ingredients. Pour the batter over peach slices in a cake pan.

4. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool for 10 minutes; then invert onto a plate to serve.

3. Peach Crisp

3. Peach Crisp

Peach Crisp is a scrumptious dessert that has the satisfying warmth of soft, sweet peaches topped with a delightful mixture of flour, rolled oats, and brown sugar. The flavors are enhanced with a good dose of cinnamon and some melted butter, making this a comforting dessert.

It is nice alone, but something this good deserves a little ice cream on top.

Ingredients

1 can (29 ounces) sliced peaches, drained
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces

Instructions

1. Set the oven to 350°F (175°C) to get it ready. Place the peaches, which should be well-drained, so that they are even in a baking dish.

2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Then, add the cold butter pieces and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the combination resembles coarse crumbs.

3. Evenly spread the mixture of oats over the peaches.

4. Preheat the oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown topping bubbles with peaches underneath.

4. Peach Pie

4. Peach Pie

Peach Pie is a classic dessert featuring a filling made from canned peaches, granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice, all encased in a flaky, refrigerated pie crust.

Ingredients

2 cans of sliced peaches, drained
1 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 package refrigerated pie crusts (for top and bottom)

Instructions

1. Set the oven to 425°F (220°C) to preheat.

2. In a big bowl, mix the drained peaches, sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice. Beat until the peaches are well mixed and evenly coated.

3. One pie crust should be rolled out into a 9-inch pie pan. The orange mixture should fill the peach, and then the second crust should be used to top the pie. The edges should be crimped to seal in the goodness, and then some slits should be cut in the top for steam to escape.

4. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. Before serving, allow the pie to cool.

5. Peach Dump Cake

5. Peach Dump Cake

Peach Dump Cake is a straightforward recipe that showcases the mild flavor of peaches. Canned peaches in syrup take center stage.

Use yellow cake mix for the best flavor and texture when combined with the melted butter. Flavor notes: I added a little vanilla and some ground cinnamon to the cake mix for extra flavor.

The cake mix is more than just a cake mix, and there’s more to this story.

Ingredients

2 cans of sliced peaches in syrup (15 oz each)
1 box of yellow cake mix
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) as you begin to prepare this dish. A 9×13-inch baking dish will do nicely; just make sure to grease it so that the baked casserole will come out easily and slice neatly.

2. Pour the canned peaches, along with the syrup, into the prepared baking dish. Stir in the vanilla extract, and then sprinkle the mixture with ground cinnamon.

3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the peaches in an even manner.

4. Melted butter should be drizzled over the top of the cake mixture, covering as much of the surface as possible.

5. Place in the preheated oven and set the timer for 45 to 50 minutes. Keep an eye on it, and take it out when its top has turned a beautiful golden brown and its filling is bubbling. Let it cool for a minute before serving.

1 jalapeño, seeds removed and minced

2. Extract the juice from the lime and mix it with the salt to taste.

1/2 cup ice cubes

Instructions

1. Mix together in a blender the following ingredients: peach juice, honey, canned peaches, vanilla yogurt, and a splash of vanilla extract.

2. Smooth and creamy is this mixture’s ultimate fate. To get it there, we pour it into the blender and hit the ON switch. You may do likewise. This, too, is an unaltered poring and hitting sequence with an identical destination.

3. Add the ice cubes, then blend again until the thickness of the smoothie is icy and just right. Service isn’t at all tricky. You’re primarily concerned with pouring the smoothie into a glass (or glasses, should the occasion warrant it).
