Recipes that deliver just seem to fly out of it (okay, that was a pun, but they do). If my air fryer has a MO, it is delivering a certain sort of alchemy.

10. Air Fryer Sticky Tofu

10. Air Fryer Sticky Tofu

Tofu, sticky and crispy, take a bow. Air fryer?

Yes, please. Tofu blocks, a very nutritious vegetarian food similar to cheese, are easy to prepare but can present some challenges.

It’s hard to believe, but cooking tofu well and cooking it quickly are two very different things. If you want crispy tofu (and you do, trust me), you have to squeeze it (not trust) between two cutting boards to get the water out, and then you have to fry it (air frying counts) fast.

Tofu, stir-fried or otherwise sauce-d, is a dish best served immediately.

Ingredients

14 oz (400g) firm tofu, pressed and cubed
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon sriracha (optional, for heat)

Instructions

1. Set the air fryer to preheat at 375°F (190°C). Toss the cubed tofu with cornstarch until it is evenly coated.

2. In the air fryer basket, arrange the tofu in a single layer. Cook it for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, so that the tofu can reach its maximum potential crispiness and golden color.

3. In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, maple syrup, sesame oil, garlic powder, and sriracha. Pour the sauce over the cooked tofu and toss until the tofu is well coated. Serve immediately.

11. Air Fryer Avocado Fries

11. Air Fryer Avocado Fries

Avocado fries made in an air fryer are a snack that has the flavor and texture of fried avocado but with a much lower calorie count and way less grease. They are a great appetizer and a way to eat something healthy while feeling like you are indulging in some sort of fast food.

Ingredients

2 ripe avocados
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Halve the avocados, take out the pit, and skin them. Slice the avocado halves into wedges.

2. Make ready three shallow dishes: In the first dish, put the flour; in the second dish, beat the eggs; and in the third dish, combine panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

3. Flour each avocado wedge, then dip it in beaten eggs, and finally press it into the panko mixture to fully coat.

4. Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) to preheat it. Next, place the avocado wedges in the air fryer basket in a single layer. You will cook them for 8-10 minutes, turning them over halfway through to ensure they get golden and crispy.

12. Air Fryer Cinnamon Apple Chips

12. Air Fryer Cinnamon Apple Chips

Cinnamon Apple Chips made in an Air Fryer are a truly healthy and crunchy snack. The main ingredients—apples and cinnamon—can be counted on to deliver a not-too-sweet, yet satisfyingly crunchy apple chip.

You can certainly make them without sugar, but if you enjoy a bit more sweetness, feel free to sprinkle on some granulated sugar before air frying. A couple of tablespoons of lemon juice also ensures that the apple chips have robust flavor.

You can count on these to be delicious as well as nutritious.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium-sized apples
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Cooking spray or a small amount of oil for the air fryer basket
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

1. Rinse and remove the core from the apples after they have been washed. Following this, proceed to cut the apples into even, thin slices that are roughly 1/8 inch thick (or less). This is a very good job for a mandoline with the slicing guard, but a good knife and a steady hand work just fine.

2. In a vast mixing bowl, amalgamate the wedges of apple with the juice of lemon to keep them from going brown. In a small bowl, mix together cinnamon and sugar—if you are using sugar—and then shower the apple wedges with it.

3. Mist the air fryer basket with cooking spray or a small amount of oil. Place the apple slices in a single layer in the basket, making sure that none of them is overlapping. This allows the hot air to circulate around each slice and do its work.

4. Cook in a convection oven at 300°F (150°C) for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the apple chips become crispy. Adjust the time as needed based on your convection oven model and the thickness of your apples. When finished, set the apple chips on a wire rack. They will cool completely and continue to crisp up slightly.

13. Air Fryer Zucchini Fries

13. Air Fryer Zucchini Fries

Crispy, simple, and healthy, Air Fryer Zucchini Fries are snacks made from the lovely green summer squash, coated and cooked in such a way that they taste more like delicious potato fries than what they actually are. But we know what they are: they are healthier because they are way lower in calories and fat and contain none of the preservatives that are often found in frozen, pre-formed “fries.” Unlike some vegetables, zucchini has such a mild flavor that it plays well with almost any seasoning—even ones that are primarily made with salt.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium zucchinis
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Cut the zucchinis into pieces that are shaped like fries and that are about 3 inches long and 1/2 inch thick.

2. Establish a station for breading that includes three shallow bowls. In the first bowl, place flour. In the second bowl, put beaten eggs. And in the third bowl, mix together panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

3. Each piece of zucchini is dipped into flour, the excess is shaken off, the piece is then coated with egg, followed by the breadcrumb mixture, and pressed gently to adhere in order to prepare for frying. USE: Zucchini. COATING: Put into 3 shallow bowls:

1. Flour

2. Beaten egg

3. Breadcrumb mixture (p. 49)

4. Place the breaded zucchini fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Fry them at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.

14. Air Fryer Falafel

14. Air Fryer Falafel

Learn to prepare falafel in an air fryer using the following ingredients: dried chickpeas, onion, garlic, fresh parsley, cilantro, ground cumin, and salt. This healthier rendition of falafel is a speedy, simple, and satisfyingly crunchy alternative.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried chickpeas, soaked overnight
  • 1 small onion, roughly chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas that have been soaking, then put them in a food processor together with the onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, and salt. Pulse the mixture until it is well combined but not pureed; it should be a somewhat grainy mixture that holds together when you squeeze it. If you have a small food processor, you may need to do this in two batches.

2. Set your air fryer to an initial temperature of 375°F (190°C). Take the falafel mixture and form it into small spheres, about the diameter of a walnut. Give each ball a light coating of cooking spray before placing them in the air fryer basket for cooking.

3. Place the falafel balls in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring that they do not make contact with one another. Air fry them for 12-15 minutes, during which time you will flip them halfway through so that they can achieve an equal level of doneness. The falafel should come out golden brown and not mushy in texture.

4. Accompany the air-fried falafel with your choice of anything else you like, and serve. Pita bread, for instance. With some nice tahini sauce. Or a fresh salad.

3. In the air fryer basket, place the eggplant slices in a single layer. Cook the eggplant for 10 minutes, turning it halfway through the cooking time. The air-fried eggplant will be golden and tender.

4. Place a spoonful of marinara sauce on the top of each slice of eggplant and then sprinkle on some mozzarella; it’s okay if some of the cheese falls off. Return the eggplant to the air fryer for 3-5 minutes. This is the second run; the cheese should be melted and possibly browned when you remove it from the fryer. Serve.

16. Air Fryer Crispy Chickpeas
