I love to seek out different recipes for shrimp dishes, and today I want to share some of my favorites with you. They are: Shrimp Scampi; Shrimp Alfredo; Shrimp Tacos; Sriracha Honey Garlic Shrimp.

These are some of the best shrimp recipes I know. They rank up there with shrimp boiled, shrimp grilled, and shrimp cooked in the kind of fantastic “shrimp” sauce my mom made when I was a kid.

Seriously, though, dive into these recipes and discover the flavor that takes you to your happy place!

1. Shrimp Scampi

The classic seafood dish known as Shrimp Scampi features large shrimp that have been sautéed in a delightful blend of garlic, butter, and olive oil. This quick and flavorful recipe comes alive with the addition of white wine and lemon juice, ingredients that brighten both the scent and taste of the dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. In a large skillet set over medium-high heat, combine the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter. Heat until the mixture is hot.

2. Introduce the garlic and give it a little stir. Let it cook for about a minute or so until it becomes fragrant.

3. Put the shrimp in the skillet. Season them with salt and pepper, and then cook them for a couple of minutes, about 2-3, on either side (don’t overdo it; they aren’t in there for long). You should see them turn pink and curl slightly.

4. Add the wine and lemon juice, allow to reduce for another 1-2 minutes, then stir in the rest of the butter. Serve right away.

2. Shrimp Alfredo

A classic pasta dish, Shrimp Alfredo features fettuccine, tender shrimp, and a rich, creamy sauce made with butter, garlic, heavy cream, and Parmesan cheese—together, a delightful meal.

Ingredients

8 oz fettuccine pasta
1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 tbsp unsalted butter
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare the fettuccine just as the package directs, ensuring it cooks to an al dente finish. Drain the pasta and place it where it will remain warm and not stick together until you need it.

2. In a big frying pan over medium heat, melt the butter and toss in the garlic. Cook until it becomes fragrant, which should take about a minute.

3. Place the shrimp in the skillet and cook until they are no longer translucent, about 3 minutes per side. Take the cooked shrimp out of the skillet and set aside.

4. In the same skillet, add the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.

5. Put the cooked fettuccine and shrimp back in the skillet. Toss them in the Alfredo sauce. Serve them immediately.

3. Shrimp Tacos

Shrimp Tacos are a simple yet flavorful dish made by seasoning shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, and garlic powder, then serving them in warm corn tortillas topped with fresh cilantro. Perfect for a quick meal.

Ingredients
1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
8 small corn tortillas
Fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

1. In a mixing bowl, coat the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat well.

2. A skillet should be heated over a medium flame, and shrimp should be placed in the skillet for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until they are pink and opaque.

3. Heat the corn tortillas in another skillet or in the microwave.

4. Put together the tacos by taking shrimp and putting it on every tortilla, then top them off with fresh cilantro, and serve them right away.

4. Shrimp Fried Rice

Shrimp Fried Rice combines the elements of a wonderful Asian dish: sweet, tender shrimp; cold jasmine rice; and vibrant peas and carrots. Enhanced with a delicate blend of garlic, soy sauce, and the ever-important green onion, this is a one-pan meal that is both quick and satisfying.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 cups cooked jasmine rice, preferably cold
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup frozen peas and carrots, thawed
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

1. In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook until they are pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set them aside.

2. In the same frying pan, add another tablespoon of oil. Then add the minced garlic and cook it until it smells really good—about half a minute. When the garlic is almost done, push it to the side of the pan, pour in the beaten eggs, and scramble them until they’re just set.

3. Combine the cooked rice with the skillet ingredients, breaking up any clumps of rice. Stir in the peas and carrots, and add soy sauce to taste. Toss the whole thing together, cooking for 3-4 minutes until everything is heated through. Serve immediately.

4. Put the shrimp back into the skillet. Add the chopped green onions and stir for another minute or two. Serve right away.

5. Shrimp and Grits

Shrimp and Grits is a classic Southern dish that features tender shrimp, cooked in savory bacon drippings and butter, over stone-ground grits, that are enriched with sharp cheddar cheese. It’s a comforting, warm dish.

Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 cup stone-ground grits
3 cups water
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
4 slices bacon, chopped
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

1. In a saucepan, bring 3 cups of water to a boil. Gradually add the grits and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 20 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally. Stir in the cheddar cheese until melted, and then set aside. You can now proceed to serve the cheese grits in any way you desire.

2. In a frying pan, fry the diced bacon over medium heat until crisp. Pour off all but 1 tablespoon of the drippings and return the pan to medium heat.

With the drippings in it, and not a moment sooner, add the butter, then the garlic. Sauté until fragrant. Shrimp do not take long to do their shrimp thing. Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

1. Combine in a bowl: the coconut milk, the lime juice, the garlic, the honey, and the soy sauce. Mix well.

2. In a bowl, add the shrimp and marinate them for no less than 15 minutes and at most 1 hour in the refrigerator.

3. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, warm the vegetable oil. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are uniformly pink and completely cooked.

4. Accompany the shrimp with additional lime wedges, and if you please, garnish with fresh cilantro.

7. Sriracha Honey Garlic Shrimp

Honey Sriracha Garlic Shrimp brings together tender shrimp and a flavor-packed combo of honey, sriracha, and minced garlic. A splash of lime juice and a drizzle of soy sauce takes the umami factor up a notch, finishing off this super speedy dish that somehow feels both homey and fancy at the same time.

Ingredients

  • Shrimp (1 pound, peeled and deveined)
  • Honey (1/4 cup)
  • Sriracha sauce (2 tablespoons)
  • Garlic (3 cloves, minced)
  • Soy sauce (2 tablespoons)
  • Olive oil (1 tablespoon)
  • Lime juice (1 tablespoon)

1. Combining the honey, sriracha sauce, minced garlic, soy sauce, and lime juice in a bowl and whisking them together thoroughly created a delightful dish that was equal parts sweet and spicy.

2. Warm the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, add the shrimp in a single layer, cooking them for about 2 minutes on each side. They should start to turn a nice shade of pink and look almost opaque when they are done.

3. Pour the sauce composed of sriracha, honey, and garlic over the shrimp, and keep cooking for another 2-3 minutes, stirring often, ensuring the shrimp are not only done but also coated with sauce and, presumably, bursting with flavor.

4. Serve at once, garnished with lime wedges or fresh herbs if desired.

8. Lemon Basil Grilled Shrimp

Lemon Basil Grilled Shrimp is a delightful dish featuring large shrimp marinated in a vibrant blend of olive oil, lemon zest and juice, fresh basil, and minced garlic.

9. Shrimp Aguachile

Shrimp Aguachile is a vibrant, zesty Mexican dish featuring marinated shrimp in fresh lime juice combined with jalapeño slices, red onion, cucumber, and cilantro. It’s a seafood delight.

Ingredients

Shrimp (peeled and deveined, about 1 pound)
Fresh lime juice (from about 4 to 5 limes)
Jalapeño peppers (2 to 3, thinly sliced)
Red onion (1, thinly sliced)
Cucumber (1, thinly sliced or diced)
Cilantro leaves (a small handful, chopped)
Salt (to taste)

Instructions

1. Wash the shrimp well, cut them in half from head to tail, and put them in a bowl.

2. Submerge the shrimp in the fresh lime juice, ensuring they are fully covered. Marinate in the fridge for 15-20 minutes, or until the shrimp are completely opaque. This can also be called indirect cooking.

3. Take the shrimp out of the lime juice. Toss with the sliced jalapeños, red onion, cucumber, and chopped cilantro. Add salt to taste.

4. Immediately serve, chilled, with tortilla chips or on tostadas, perhaps.

10. Goan Shrimp Curry

Shrimp curry, Goan style, is an incredibly flavorful seafood dish that features shrimp, coconut milk, onions, tomatoes, garlic, and Goan curry masala. This curry is rich and bold in flavor, as only Goan seafood dishes tend to be.

Even the simplest of them, like this one, is packed with taste—a testament to the Goan love for well-spiced, well-seasoned food.

Ingredients

  • Shrimp
    500 grams, cleaned and deveined
  • Coconut Milk
    1 cup
  • Onion
    1 large, finely chopped
  • Tomato
    1 large, chopped
  • Garlic
    3 cloves, minced
  • Goan Curry Masala
    2 tablespoons
  • Oil
    2 tablespoons

Instructions

1. In a pan, heat oil and sauté the onions until they are a light brown color. Then, add the minced garlic and continue cooking for an additional minute.

2. Mix the chopped tomatoes into the softened mixture and blend until smooth. Stir in the Goan curry masala and make a smooth blend into the dish well.

3. Add the shrimp to the simmering coconut milk. Finish cooking the shrimp, which should only take got about 5 to 7 minutes; then serve the soup.

11. Garlic Butter Tuscan Shrimp

11. Garlic Butter Tuscan Shrimp

Succulent shrimp are the stars of this dish. They are sautéed in butter and garlic, then tossed in a creamy sauce that consists of chicken broth, heavy cream, and Parmesan (really, it should be called “Garlic Butter Tuscan Shrimp and Cheesy Sauce”).

The sauce bathes the shrimp in creamy goodness and clings to it, ensuring that every forkful of shrimp is coated in creamy sauce.

Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 cups fresh spinach

Instructions

1. In a large skillet, over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Once the butter is melted and bubbling, quickly add the shrimp in a single layer (working in batches if necessary) and sauté until pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side. Using tongs, carefully transfer the shrimp to a plate and set aside.

2. In the same frying pan, add the minced garlic and fry for about 1 minute until fragrant. Add the chicken stock and bring to a simmer. Then add the thick cream and Parmesan and stir until smooth.

3. Add fresh spinach to sauce and cook until wilted. Return shrimp to skillet and heat through, thoroughly coating with sauce. Serve warm.
